Management Team

Joseph Castañeda is the Executive Director. Mr. Castañeda holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles and studied International Ethics and Welfare Systems at the University of Birmingham, England. Most recently he finished his community outreach service with Peace Corps in Ecuador's Amazon Region. He is responsible for overseeing El Centrito's Even Start Program, School Readiness Program, Ramona Pre-school Program. Mr. Castañeda offers these programs his knowledge and expertise in socicial welfare services, community development and education. He also participates in local art projects that vary from public access shows, producing theatre, to creative writing.

Anna Geer is El Centrito’s Program Planning & Grants Manager. Anna holds a BA in Anthropology, with minors in Politics and Spanish from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Before returning to graduate school at UC Berkeley’s School of Social Welfare, where she focused on community development, non-profit management, and program planning, Anna worked as an advocate for children, families, and communities in a variety of settings, from rural Guatemala to a Head Start program in Oakland. Anna currently manages the Family Literacy Programs and coordinates El Centrito’s innovative parent-and-child-together workshop series, “Mis Padres y Yo.”
